C4DLOG 005 // RANDOM.TEXT.WAVE I

This has been some kind of NEVERENDING STORY. I simply couldn't stop fiddeling around with all those settings in C4D, while playing with text, materials and those wavy stripes [THANK YOU to EJ from eyedesyn for this great tutorial on these wavy stripes!] at the same time. The sandwhich-style text was inspired by an image of greyscalegorilla. Learned hell of a lot doing this one. Think I will create some more of these - different text, different style. We will see ...

C4DLOG 004 // GLOWING IN THE DARK III

No. 3 of 5 glowing ideas I have on my mind. Playing with volumetric light, fog and displacement mapping (#tfmstyle #voltaicpack). Text and spheres of glass fill the plane for a more complete scenario.

C4DLOG 003 // GLOWING IN THE DARK II

No. 2 of 5 glowing ideas I have on my mind. Again doing some basic C4D stuff with self-luminous material, some displacement mapping (#tfmstyle), basic objects and text. Some kind of dark matrix tech atmosphere.

C4DLOG 002 // GLOWING IN THE DARK I

Learning by doing, playing while learning, learning while playing. Doing some basic C4D stuff here. Kinda futuristic light installation ... maybe. Some glowing materials, some displacement mapping, basic objects. Love the mood.

Intro to Cinema 4D for Designers / LIGHTING II: Creating Stylized Lighting, Light Rays and Hard Shadows

So. Devon taught us some lighting stuff. Stylized Lighting. Ok, so how about meeting an old friend and his ... ahem ... 8-legged problem! Damn, some REAAAAALLLY creepy spider in 3D ... THAT would be fun. One like in this timeless short film LOOM, a MASTERPIECE made by Polynoid. Well ... for the beginning ... this is my one, created for LIGHTING II of Devon Ko's 3D course. Rendez-vous with my tiny little wizard form the maze solving lessons ...

Intro to Cinema 4D for Designers / FORM, Project „Cocktail“

Cocktail anyone? A new project at the end of FORM III of "Intro to Cinema 4D for Designers". Well - this one didn't end up that well, to be honest. Couldn't get the right look I had in my head. Looks kinda cheesy. Cheap 3D. The way no one wants to see it! Nevertheless, I like the gradients and the ice cubes within. Well, no idea whether this is mixable or not. BUT I would try it - if you would serve those jellyplanttentaclethingies, too. NEONJELLY OVERLOAD - at least the name rocks.

Intro to Cinema 4D for Designers / FORM II+III, Creating profiles with loft objects

Pushing her students further into the crazy depths of 3D, Devon wanted us to dive into the world of King Arthur, Highlander and LOTR ... I think. CREATING A SWORD using the loft generator. This one was even more fun to create than all the others! At first I stayed quite close to the tutorial - but while diddling around with my scene, I realized the possibilities. GameOfThrones, Zelda, LordOfTheRings, Orcs, Dwarfs ... TENTACLES. OF COURSE. A sword named TENTACLESLAYER. It was so obvious. I always loved LucasArts DOTT, their green & purple tentacle. Ready, steady, go! A little big sword here, a cheesy pun in the 3D title text and a scary tentacle in the backround. In the end, I'm quite happy with the mix, my brain came up with here! Okok, the camera move is as simple as it could be, but hey, learning that one is another story.

Intro to Cinema 4D for Designers / LIGHTING II: Creating Stylized Lighting, Depth and Fog

After 30 days of endless water, finally, a beautiful island emerged from the fog. THEN WE GOT CAUGHT IN A TIME LOOP PHENOMENON. DAMN! That's what I created for this part of Devon Ko's course. Some light. An environment with fog. A plain. Some displacement and colouring based on a map of The French Monkey's beautiful Landscape Kit RUIN. Oh, and a looping camera move. Ready. Steady. GO! Lost-inspired loopy island.

Intro to Cinema 4D for Designers / FORM II+III, Creating profiles with lathe objects

WOOP! WOOP! Finally found some time to continue the trip through Devon's crazy world of 3D. Next step: LIGHTBULBS TO THE MAX! This one was really fun. The light bulb - somehow - is one of those objects, that haunts me since the beginning of playing around with 3D software and Adobe's Creative Tools. Lots of ideas on the brain, but most of them remain ideas. NOT THIS ONE! This one became alive - thanx to Devon's motivation skills. Splines, lathe objects, text, cool materials and a simple, but sufficient camera movement. I'm really proud of the look. Not photorealistic, but with that certain something.

Intro to Cinema 4D for Designers / Project SUSHI

Well, waiting for the next lesson gave me some time to sink my teeth into the sushi project of Devon's 3D course. It's amazing how easy you get tied up over all those trillions of possibilites, settings 'n' stuff in Cinema 4D. And in the end it's only a few little basics and the right tweaks to create cool looking stuff like this plate full of sushi. Took me a while of course - but hey, I do not serve sushi every day! By the way, the seaweed is done by a little plugin (free, of course) called kurulumun by Tomas Sinkunas/renderTom.com. You can get it here.
